LaMDA stands for Language Model for Dialog Application. Google’s LaMDA is open domain which means it’s designed to converse on any topic and while it’s still in research and development, Google is using it in internally.
LaMDA, which is an AI chatbot and an example of what machine learning researchers call a Large Language Model or even a foundation model it’s similar to Open-AI’s famous GPT-3 system and has been trained on literally trillions of words compiled from online posts to recognize and reproduce patterns in human language lamda is an acronym for language models for dialogue applications it was first presented at a google conference last year and was described in a paper from google in February. LaMDA is a really good large language model, lamda is a program that generates language by taking a database of text and making predictions about how sequences of words would continue if they resembled the text in that database.
LaMDA is still in early stage, but google said that results are encouraging. Google said that, they are scrutinizing every step of LaMDA development as they are work to incorporate conversational abilities into more of our products.
